65 - Missionaries are Super Heroes

This week was actually really rough, but good. So first off, we had an investigator tell us we couldn't come back... so that kinda sucked. But we have two that are progressing, so that's good. But we are trying to find other people to teach. We have R, and she is 18, and she is really cool. She made us lunch and is super funny and nice. She asked us if she could be a missionary, and she really does want to listen to us. I think she really does want to change her life. But we will see what happens! She is really cool. Then we have some other people we are teaching and they are acting really cool. We gave out 3 Book of Mormons this last week and the people are reading them! It is helping us out a lot. We are feeling a lot better and ready to work.

We are going to have a baptism on the 11th. It's a 10 year old girl. She always comes to church with her grandma. She is super funny but really, really smart! Like it's kinda weird but it's good. She is really sweet.

But I'm feeling good. The knee hurts from walking all the hills, but I don't want to leave this area just yet. There are more things I need to do here first. I want to do something good here before I go. I want people to remember me for the work I did. I'm trying my best but we will see how things go. I'm trying to help my comp because all his previous comps have been super disobedient, so I want to help him see that you can have fun without that!

We had Sunday- we did a little activity for the primary kids. It was really fun! I had a good time. See the pictures. We taught the kids that missionaries are super heroes. Note my sick cape. I love the kids here!

Other than that things were good! We are teaching a lot of people and doing service. And we actually planned to have a 4th of July party for the members, less actives and investigators! We are really hoping that it will work out good. I really hope we can help the investigators feel welcome in the ward. But we will try our best!

Things are good. Me and my comp are getting along well. We are spending a lot of time helping the members. But I'm happy. I like it here a little. This area is good about members giving us food. We only have maybe 1 or 2 meals that they don't give us every week so it's better with that.

But I am trying to collect license plates. I have 2008 to 2014. Just gotta get a taxi one! haha Yes I know it's a waste of space. But it's cool! But I love you guys. Have a good week!

64 - Hitting the Hills

Well this week was tough! There are a lot of shootings. There were actually 4 people killed this last week. Our area is all of Fatima and the part behind the Los Andes mall, so that's a cool part! But this area is rough. When I got here there was nothing, no investigators, nothing! I don't know why president keeps wanting me to move everywhere. But I think I am going to have to ask to get changed. This area is way too hard on my knee with all the hills. Every day it hurts worse. I am using a knee brace every day and taking Advil again at lunch time. Even with that it is still hard. I talked to the nurses and he was telling me that it is putting way too much stress on my knee. So that kinda stinks. But it's life I guess. I'm going to tell president that I don't think my knee can handle it. So in a few more weeks I might have another change! I will see what happens. I don't want to keep going through pain every day, but I will talk to president about it.

That stinks about Marcus having surgery! But it's good he feels better.

And by the way! Happy late fathers day, dad! I hope you like the gift! What is up with you and those dang Bose headphones? Why not a new chip for the car? Or something cool like a sword! jaja No I'm just kidding! I'm glad you liked it!

Things are going good here, we found a couple new people that want to listen to us, and it seems like they are progressing. But we will see! Not much else happened. I'm really physically tired out here, every day! It's from all the hill climbing we do every day. But things are good!
Now onto the week, so things went well- no one really gave us any trouble. All in all pretty good! My comp got me something for fathers day! It was really cool of him! And I found Mountain Dew! It was a blessing! We had some good lessons. We found a girl that is 18, her name is R. and she was actually really interested! She is really cool, and really nice. And then we had a lady that we promised her that her leg would be healed. So we are going to see how that went! And then we found  a 9 yr old girl who we need to baptize. And then we found a family of less active members! They are actually really cool! The son is waiting to put in his mission papers, and his sister said she wants to serve a mission too! So we are trying to get them to come to church, but it's hard because their dad just doesn't want to go. So we will keep trying there! But this week was good!

I hope you have a good week! I love you! Have fun with summer!

63 - Another New Area!

Hey mom! Well yes I did get changed. I'm back in San Mig. But now I'm in a
place called Fatima. Just do not look up anything about it... the members say it's the most dangerous part of the country. There were 6 `people killed down the street this last week! So that's pretty cool! Haha B
ut it's okay. I don't feel scared in there so it's pretty cool! But there aren't any progressing investigators and there are about 45 people in church every Sunday. It is not very strong here yet... but I guess we will try and see what we can do. I don't know, it's been kind of rough with traveling so much. And there isn't much going on out here. But the house looks great and really cool! My area is full of mountains, so my knee is getting worse every day. I'm taking advil every day and just trying to suffer through it for now.
But not much happened really. Today I played basketball for like 25 minutes.  We have interviews with president this next week. So I'll talk to him and see what he says about everything.
I hope things go well! And tell Marcus that he needs to stop going into the hospital. Our
family really is not that good about staying out of there! I'm sorry this is so short.. but really nothing happened.
I got to go on a day trip to Santiago with my ZL. It was way fun! But I'm really tired...today we
cleaned the house. Like the first time in about a year! it was so dirty! But that's just how it goes I guess! haha A lot of companions don't like cleaning so it's nice to have one that does like it! My comp is pretty cool so that's good.
No we don't have iPads and even if we did, we wouldn't use them in church.. so don't know about that!
I love you! Have a good week! Give Marcus a smack on the back for me!

62 - Changes are coming up

Hey mom.. well things are going good today. We had to move the baptism to this weekend. It’s a 9 year old boy and his mom is already a member of the church.  We are planning for Saturday but we have changes this week so I don’t know if I will be here for the baptism. President likes to send me somewhere new before I want to go so we will see.. haha I’m kind of tired of moving around all the time. But whatever, what happens, happens. But thanks for the prayers pops. It really is helping.

I haven’t heard much from Elder T.S., but Elder L.B. yes.

It’s awesome that you guys are so excited about the house! I wanna get a picture of those plans! I wanna see what we are going to be working with.

That’s awesome that P.L. got to do the baptism! That’s an awesome experience! And I’m glad that we will be living close to them, I wanna see them! They are awesome!

But this week was good, little worried about changes because I want to stay here actually. But it’s whatever.

This week we went to do visits with some members. It actually went really good! We have a new family that we are teaching, they are a 16 year old girl and her dad. They seemed really interested and really had some good stuff to say. So we will see what happens! We are trying to work as hard as we can and we are seeing a little bit of an improvement. But then with another family, the mom started to get mad at us and started to tell us that we didn’t know certain things about the Bible, and we explained it and everything. But we finally just said read the Book of Mormon, pray and let us know what you receive and how you feel. So that kinda stunk. But I guess it’s just not time.

But we really gotta change dad’s view of cars after my mission. There is a whole 'nother world out there! The wonderful world of 2 doors! Haha

I’m glad things are going good, things here are moving along and things are good! Love you! Have a good week!

61 - A Week of Walking

haha R.L. is so dang cute! It is crazy that she is getting baptized! I thought she was younger than that. But I guess a year and a few months away from home can do that! Make sure that you give her a big hug for me! And tell her I miss her and I’m proud of her!

But things are going good here. We are planning on having another baptism this weekend.

Answering questions, no I’m not having spinning feelings anymore. The stress level is down now so that’s why. Right now I’m studying in Matthew chapter 11 and 3 Nephi 19. It’s going pretty good! We are also studying chapter 5 of Preach My Gospel.

This last week was a little different. We did a lot of walking! We went to a place called Jaramillo Centro, and it was like an hour walk one way. But we found a family up there that knows the recent convert M., so we are going to try and have him go teach with us. Finding people is actually really hard out here but we are trying our hardest. We are planning on having another baptism this weekend. But things are good! Me and my comp are getting along really well!

This week I had a really cool lesson. We have been teaching L. about the temple and more about the priesthood, and it is going great! He is really, really excited! He really wants to go do baptisms at the temple. He has had a real change, and it is something you can see! He has had the change of heart that it talks about in the scriptures. It’s awesome! I’m so happy for him! And I’m happy that I could help him change his life.

It is sad about Grandma Pearl. I hope it will go quick for her.

Other than that tell dad when I get back, I’m ready to change his way of thinking of cars. I’m ready to help him change ;) haha no I’m just kidding. But I’m glad you guys are doing good.

I love you mom! I know it’s not the same without me! But Ii will be home sooner than you can say hot grilled spam! haha
